About

However, after delving into the fashion industry, my perspective shifted. I realised that although my passion remains in designing, I also have a passion for sustainability and innovation. Using fashion design as a means to help people and reduce harm to the planet. I hope to continue designing whilst learning about how fashion+design+technological innovations can help to shape a more sustainable and over-all considerate future.

My interests lay in traditional cultural design and I truly believe in the concept of 'looking back to move forward'. These traditional methods of design include zero waste patternmaking, natural dye and genderless/ age-less design. I believe that a lot of solutions to the issues our planet currently face can be found in the way we used to design and consume. I hope to contribute by practicing and discovering new intersections between cultural design and technological innovations.

Raised in Far North Queensland,  I have always had a love for art and creating since I was a child. I find beauty in all things large and small, specifically within nature where I credit my cultural heritage of being Japanese and Sri Lankan and the storytelling throughout my childhood.

I am currently a student studying a BA of Fashion and Textiles (Sustainable Innovation) in Melbourne, Australia. I begun my tertiary education in Sydney, Australia, studying a BA of Design (Fashion and Textiles). I completed a full year and decided to transfer to my current degree in Melbourne. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the design process and can now confidently design, patternmake and construct a garment, as well as illustrate, create tech-sketches and spec sheets.
